Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Garret Graves (R-LA), Ranking Member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, was selected by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to lead the Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force. Graves will lead 14 of his Republican colleagues in developing legislative solutions that promote American innovation, invest in clean energy infrastructure, and implement initiatives in natural solutions and conservation.

“I would like to thank Leader McCarthy for putting together a great group of members to help lead the new Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force," Graves said. “America’s climate policy should be based on American resources, American innovation, and American competitiveness to reduce global emissions – resulting in lower energy costs, economic growth, and increased security. We will not advance policies that result in increased reliance on China, increased geopolitical strength for Russia, or increased global emissions. In order to power America’s clean energy future, our Task Force will hit the ground running to develop policy solutions that promote an all-of-the-above energy strategy that protects our environment, creates American jobs, enhances American competitiveness, and provides maximum national security and energy security."

“The Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force will build on House Republicans’ longstanding efforts to craft legislation that protects jobs, promotes innovative technologies, and reduces global emissions,” Leader McCarthy said. “As the Ranking Member for the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, and a member of the House Natural Resources Committee, Congressman Garret Graves was an obvious choice to lead the Task Force in achieving these goals. Over the course of his Congressional career, Congressman Graves has displayed the kind of forward thinking our conference needs to enhance America’s energy sector and continue to counter global climate change. I am confident that, under his leadership, the Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force will make American energy cleaner, more affordable, and more accessible while protecting American jobs.”

“Leader McCarthy has hand-picked a great team and I am honored to be a part of the Energy, Conservation, and Climate Task Force,” House Committee on Agriculture Ranking Member Glenn Thompson (PA-15) said. “I’m proud to represent Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District’s oil and gas industry, agricultural production, and national forest on this important Task Force. After all, American producers, farmers, and ranchers are our conservation champions and they deserve to be recognized.”
