Press Release

Washington, D.C. – House Select Climate Committee Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-LA) released the following statement announcing the Republican Members of the Committee for the 117th Congress. Returning Members include Reps. Gary Palmer (R-AL) Buddy Carter (R-GA), Carol Miller (R-WV), and Kelly Armstrong (R-ND). The two new Members joining the Committee this Congress are Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH).

“I'm excited to have our returning Members on the Committee as well as the addition of Reps. Crenshaw and Gonzalez, whose additional perspectives from Texas and Ohio, and their robust national security and technology backgrounds will be a real asset in our efforts to reduce global emissions while ensuring the U.S. economy continues to grow and our American workers are protected," Ranking Member Graves said. "I look forward to working together to promote innovative, free-market solutions that fully utilize American resources.”

Rep. Crenshaw said, “If we’re serious about tackling climate change, we need to get serious about advancing bipartisan solutions that boost American energy innovation. That’s how we tackle this challenge, and we can do this without killing American energy jobs or American energy independence. Americans are tired of this false choice of inaction or economy-crushing regulations when it comes to climate change. I look forward to serving on this committee to push for policies that will protect our environment and our economy and our energy independence all at the same time.”

Rep. Gonzalez said, “Americans agree that action is needed to lower energy costs, protect our environment, and improve American competitiveness in the global economy. But to solve these issues, we need constructive solutions, not dangerous proposals like the Green New Deal. I am honored to join the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis as a new member alongside Rep. Crenshaw and look forward to championing policies that allow for America to innovate and lead in the development of new technologies.”
