Winter Heating Bills Loom as the Next Threat of Biden’s Inflation Crisis

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – With inflation at its highest level in 30 years, American families are now having to brace for higher home heating bills this winter thanks to President Joe Biden’s inflation crisis. As reported by The New York Times, "Heating costs could rise to levels not seen for a decade, even if there isn’t a severe winter."

Even Biden’s own Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm, recently acknowledged American families should expect to pay higher costs to heat their homes this winter.

"This is going to happen. It will be – it will be more expensive this year than last year," Granholm said.

Households are expected to spend 54 percent more for propane, 43 percent more for home heating oil, 30 percent more for natural gas, and 6 percent more for electric heating compared to a last winter, according to a report from the Energy Information Administration released last month.

While the White House blames inflation on “rising energy costs,” they fail to acknowledge these rising energy costs are a direct result of their anti-American energy policies. From shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline, the moratorium on energy leases on federal land, begging OPEC to fill in the gaps, and now considering shutting down the Line 5 oil and gas pipeline that serves the Midwest – Biden has failed on energy, and Americans are paying the price.

In a recent letter authored by House Select Climate Committee Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-LA) and Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), they urged the Biden administration to reverse course on its energy policies that are hurting American families.

"Energy policies of your administration, including your multiple Executive Orders, directly impact energy costs by reducing supply and signaling to markets an intent to further constrain supply and make production more expensive. Markets respond to actions and energy has become more expensive," they wrote in the letter. "Without an immediate change of direction from your administration, this winter American families are going to see huge spikes in utility bills, increased pain at the pump, and even further inflation impacting the cost of almost all goods and services."

However, it seems the Biden administration doesn’t care how painful inflation is for families and they clearly have no plan to fix it.
